About Costa del Sol Cricket

The cricket ground is a former Turf Nursery supplying grass to La Manga Golf Resort and later Desert Springs amongst others before the owner decided to convert the private farming grounds into a permanent sports facility offering the first grass wicket in Spain complete with dressing rooms and marquee pavilion with a 24hr bar…
The Cártama ground offers 2 grass pitches with grass outfields and a grass wicket on one with the other being an artificial track with 3 grass net facilities.

UK based League sides are welcome to come and use the facilities or play matches as part of their pre-season training.
Any interest on playing touring matches at the ground or coming over for pre-season training then please go to our contact page.

Club History

On 17 th  August 1986, the Malaga Cricket Association was formed. Chairman: Mr. Gregory P. Gomez, Treasurer: Mr Norman F. Ross, Secretary; Mr. Thomas G. Samuel, Committee Members: Mr. Ian M. Smith, Mr. Mike Biggs and Mr. Ashok Khiani. The Clubs under it’s umbrella being Costa del Sol CC (formed in 1985), All Indian CC (formed 1986), Fuengirola CC (formed 1986) and  Combined Colleges CC (formed 1986); playing annual April and November Festivals, in the Malaga League and Representative Cricket against Gibraltar Cricket Association.
.
In less than three full years, the achievements and the momentum in the Province of Malaga alone were so impressively far ahead of all the guidelines set forth by the International Cricket Conference, in that, by showing that the game had a solid infrastructure. The only stumbling block was that the Malaga Cricket Association was not a National Governing Authority. Once again Gordon, Ian and Greg set about to address the new directives of the I.C.C in order to attempt to achieve International Cricketing Status, this time for the Kingdom of Spain
